Repeater Station (Archived Chats and Forum)

William Creek was named in November 1859 by explorer John McDouall Stuart during his expeditions in the area. William was the second son of John Chambers, a pioneer pastoralist of South Australia and a strong ally of Stuart's.

Once part of the Ghan train line, William Creek has always been a very small town, even at its peak there were just a few cottages, a small school and a hotel-store. But just opposite this tiny settlement lies the largest and most famous cattle station in the world, Anna Creek. The property is 30,114 square kms making up just 25% of the Kidman lands, which total 117,706 square kms - the size of England.
