Project Aim
The major
aim of the Connecting the Continent online event is to
maximise the uptake of 'best practices' with online learning
technologies across the system to celebrate 100 years since
Australia's Federation.
Project Description
Connecting the Continent commemorates the role of telecommunications
in nation building from the Overland Telegraph Line to the future
of the information revolution.
The project will include
an online event like no other. It will be an exciting, innovative,
live event showcasing some of the most fascinating remote outback
communities in Australia. Educational content will feature highly
and include many exciting interactive activities for students,
schools and communities viz:-
- a webquest (with prizes)
- downloadable lesson plans
- teacher activity centre
- mystery photo competition
- online forums
- streaming media

- An enhanced understanding
of Federation the role of telecommunications in nation building
- Purposeful engagement
with online technologies to communicate and collaborate with
peers and experts

online technologies to develop information literacy skills
