Jun 30, 14:44: Karen> Are you still there Gaye?
Jun 30, 14:44: Gaye> Pine Creek is a special place. If you like a warm tropical environment, it has perfect weather, although non where is paradise! October is hot humid and like hell on earth, but we all have the wonderful wet season to look forward to. There are about 500 people in Pine Creek althought many of the people work in the mine and we don't get to meet many of them as they work 12 hours a day and then when they have days off the go to Darwin so we mainly mix with about 100 to 150 of the population. There are lots of social activities Whenever people reat out monthly newsletter, no matter where they are from they always comment on the number of social and sporting activities we have It can be a very very hectic social life evern tho we live in the Bush!
Jun 30, 14:44: Karen> So you're a pretty smart little 8 year old are ya?
Jun 30, 14:46: Karen> Are there a lot of different social clubs? Who co-ordinates all the social events?

Jun 30, 14:47: Tricia> Does everybody go away for Uni? What schools do you have?
Jun 30, 14:49: Gaye> Turf Club, Sports & Social Club, National Trust, 8 Ball and darts, netball, soccer, cricket rodeo, golf club annd lots of parties in fact there is a social get together tomorrow for Territory day and we are having a sausage sizzle and fireworks to mark the occasion
Jun 30, 14:49: Yeliz> Um well we have grade 2 in it 2 and this the first time grade threes have done it and my teacher and the year two's teacher helps us do it. Gaye, I've got a 18 year old sister that just started Uni, but she didn't go away, but she's going to Turkey for a few months
Jun 30, 14:50: Karen> Yes we're hoping Katrina F-L will be able to video tape the fireworks so we can put a little fireworks movie up on the website to mark the occasion!
Jun 30, 14:51: Karen> Can you tell me a bit more about Territory Day?
Jun 30, 14:51: Gaye> We have a uni in Darwin which offers a range of courses however for Medical and denistry and some other fields students have to go interstate. Our closest high school iis in Katherine which is 95klm away and the high school kids go down and back on a bus it thakes an hour each way
Jun 30, 14:52: Tricia> How long does it take to get from Pine Creek to Darwin?
